ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

MASTHEAD

In the first part of this photo spread I documented the bank, the bankline stabilization and the inner dike of the Weser river in an allotment garden area. In this part you see the bankline stabilization and the main dike of the Weser river in the city center area. This main dike is called 'Osterdeich'.

Then I ascended the bankline stabilization area and the main dike up to the dike top. Then I descended down to the river again. I took a lot of photographs of the ascent and the descent.

In order to get attuned please take a look at this photograph. A community center is situated right on the dike top of the Osterdeich. Behind the hedge there is a open-air pub.

The open-air pub is part of a café of the community center. In the middle of the outer embankment slope you also see reeds, which had been washed ashore by the flood.

A view from the bankline stabilization zone to the riverwalk and the main dike.

This is a view from the edge of the riverwalk to the outer embankment slope of the main dike. You see a brighter zone in the middle of the outer embankment slope.

Twigs and reeds had been washed ashore by the last flood.

In the middle of the outer embankment slope

A busy road runs on the dike top. Cars continually puff exhaust gas into the air.

Beyond the road the area slopes down gently.
